2 weeks of living in Paris, I feel homesick already, not about the places, is more about the food. As I am born in Hong Kong, Rice & Noodles which are something fed me up for 28 years. But so on, choosing to live in France doesn’t mean that I have to eat like a French in all time. I still miss the Asia Flavor, so my bf he took me to this place, Hakata Choten.
My Bf he is an expert and super fans of Ramen, he been trying different ramen places in Paris, this time he brought me to Opera to heal my homesick. He recommended this place said it will be one of his Fav Ramen places in Paris so far. Out of the topic a bit, Opera is Japanese area in Paris, you could find lots of Japanese Restaurant in this area.
Hakata Choten the restaurant inside is small, they don’t have many choices on the menu. That moment we are not super hungry so we didn’t order their hot dish – Gyoza. Hakata Choten represented Fukuoka and was awarded the prestigious prize of ‘Best Gyoza in Japan’. It looks great, I hope next time I am able to try it.
So we ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen Noir, Tonkotsu Ramen abundantly flavored with garlic infused in oil for a long time to extract the maximum of ‘umami’. The portion is not that big, even a short girl like me could finish easily. The Soup is nice but is still too oily for me, but still, is rich, very concentrated and tasty. I don’t taste much garlic but u still can smell the scent. The soup goes well with their pork and the Flavored boiled egg, everything is just simple and perfect. So far on, I think their ramen is pretty much as close as the ramen I had to try in Japan ( but of cause, the owner/ Chef seems is a Japanese.)
If you are close to the Opera & get tired of French bistro ? It doesn’t matter, Hakata Choten is here for you!
